چکیده

In concept learning, objects in a domain are grouped together based on similarity as determined by the attributes used to describe them. Existing concept learners require that this set of attributes be known in advance and presented in entirety before learning begins. Additionally, most systems do not possess mechanisms for altering the attribute set after concepts have been learned. Consequently , a veridical attribute set relevant to the task for which the concepts are to be used must be supplied at the onset of learning , and in turn, the usefulness of the concepts is limited to the task for which the attributes were originally selected. In order to eeciently accommodate changing contexts , a concept learner must be able to alter the set of descriptors without discarding its prior knowledge of the domain. We introduce the notion of attribute-incrementation, the dynamic modiication of the attribute set used to describe instances in a problem domain. We have implemented the capability in a concept learning system that has been evaluated along several dimensions using an existing concept formation system for comparison .

Dynamically Adjusting Categories to Accommodate Changing Contexts

Context Concept formation is the process by which generalizations are formed through observation of instances from the environment. These instances are described along a number of attributes, which are selected according to their relevance to the problem or task for which the concepts will be used. The context of a concept learning problem consists of the goals and tasks of the learner, as well...

Generating Collaborative Work Processes

The paper describes ways to support collaboration in business processes. Collaborative processes are different from predefined processes in the sense that they can change dynamically as the situation emerges. Such changes can be time consuming as they require users to continually adapt the system to changing contexts. The solution proposed here to support process evolution is to provide generic...

A context-sensitive dynamic role-based access control model for pervasive computing environments

Resources and services are accessible in pervasive computing environments from anywhere and at any time. Also, due to ever-changing nature of such environments, the identity of users is unknown. However, users must be able to access the required resources based on their contexts. These and other similar complexities necessitate dynamic and context-aware access control models for such environmen...

Self-Awareness as Metacognition about Own Self Concept

Implementation of agency in a cognitive system implies that certain beliefs, values and/or goals represented in the system become, if implicitly, attributed to the self of the agent. When the cognitive system becomes explicitly aware of this attribution, it acquires a self-regulation capacity allowing it to control, modify and develop its self-concept together with the attitudes attributed to t...
